Are You Kidding Me?

Once again, I have been accused of cussing on air. I can't believe that people actually think I would cuss on the news AND I can't believe that people actually grab the phonebook, call, and complain. If I had pulled a "Don Imus" or a "Howard Stern"... I would understand, but the person last night called because I stuttered!

During the first look at weather I was going to say "showers" and then decided to say "scattered showers" in mid-sentence... Therefore I said "showe...scat...scattered showers". Anyone can clearly notice that I stuttered. Why would I cuss on the news when talking about rain? That does not even make sense????

People that know me, know that I rarely cuss. If I do, I am usually by myself and I just hit my hand with a hammer or something!

Anywho, here is the voicemail he left for my bosses last night...
VOICEMAIL

Here is the clip me stuttering

(It's been a rough week!)...
Take care, Ryan

OK, HAVE YOU MADE SOMEONE MAD? OR ARE THERE PEOPLE IN THIS AREA WHO NEED TO GET ANOTHER HOBBY BESIDES COMPLAINING ABOUT EVERYTHING?

OR DO YO THINK THAT CRAIG RICKERT OR SOME OF THOSE RADIO GUYS ARE PLAYING A TRICK ON YOU?

I WOULDN'T BE TOO CONCERNED ABOUT THESE TRIVIAL COMPLIANTS. YOU DO A WONDERFUL JOB.

Geez Louise, it must be nice to have nothing better to do than call the TV station to complain about such things. Get a life, people! (Or check those hearing aid batteries! *grin*)

I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that this guy has never allowed prime-time TV to appear on his family TV set(s). Otherwise, I am guessing that he has all the major networks on speed-dial, and they, likewise, have his number on call block. But at least those calls would have been warranted.

And to think, you'll still go ahead and tell these folks "if the storm is going to hit their house" too! You're some kind of guy, Ryan! :D

I've never had any problem understanding exactly what you say. These people complaining obviously have nothing better to do and are just trying to stir up a stink over nothing.

The ironic thing is they probably cuss like sailors themselves but complain because they imagined you, an on-air personality, said an offcolor word.

People are nuts sometimes.

And for what it's worth, any time the weather turns bad, I watch KAIT for my weather information. I only turn on the radio if KAIT gets knocked off the air.

Keep up the good work, Ryan. :-)

Mr. Perkins has a problem. I listened to the clip several times and the first time I completely missed it. I agree with the anonymous that said he bets his kids never watch prime-time t.v., their channel must stay on nickelodeon and I bet his daughter slipped and watched the weather.:) People in paragould/jonesboro, please get a life. Ryan truly does live a good Christian life and he has small children, so he has to watch what he says not only something bad,but everything else as well. Kids pick up on every little thing. Ryan you did nothing wrong. Keep up the good work, both on t.v. and off.

Com on, this is really tiresome. Read Poppy and Nana's comment. I am Ryan's mother in law and if he were going to swear at anybody it would probably be me,lol. But he doesn't use bad language at home or on the air. My goodness.......

I to church with Ryan and his family, and not only that, but have been in Sunday School class with him. His wife teaches my 3 year old daughter. We are all human and mess up, but I can witness to the fact that this family sets very high standards for themselves and pride themselves on being good Christian people. I know he doesn't claim to be perfect; there's only one person who lived on this earth that was perfect. However, Ryan stands out in the crowd for the good reasons-being a good, solid person and living a good, Christian life. These people need to be careful before throwing around accusations. Satan is just trying to attack you right now, Ryan. Hang in there and know we're praying for you.

What I would love to know was how old his child was? And how did she know that it was a cuss word in the first place??? HMMMMMMM? I realize that older kids will learn cuss words at school, but a MAJORITY of them learn them at home. I listened and heard you stumble on your words, but there was NO cuss word there. We love you Ryan! Keep up the great work!

No Comment, Except Ryan keep up the great work.
Have a great weekend and enjoy this weather.

That is pretty funny, but most people would be able to realize that you just stumbled over your words, not cussed. Notice I said "most." Some people just want something to complain about. Have a great day.

Ryan, you may not read this since it's been some time since you posted this entry. However, I wanted to tell you the best thing for you to do is just laugh at his ignorance, forgive his obvious stupidity (I know you can't say it here, so I'll do it for you.), shake your head and go on with your job. People in this area have a tendency to be quick about pointing out your imperfections and ignoring their own. It makes them feel better about themselves. I would also make a serious guess that since you're one of them "TV folks" he got kicks from calling the TV station. Probably told "the boys at work" he called and let you have it. If Mr Perkins was really "not trying to be mean about it" he should have given it half thought before he sent anything. (and so should his wife since it's obvious in the voicemail he was about to say she was mad over it and held off) So what if he has a "good Christian family"?? Are these the traits he's wanting to pass on to the daughter?? Being irrational? If I remember correctly Christ never jumped to any hasty decisions and thought RATIONALLY before speaking. Perhaps you, Mr. Perkins, could do the same before exposing your complete lack of judgment to us all.

I believe I have the perfect quote for Mr. TJ Perkins "Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."

Keep up the outstanding work Ryan. Please know that the VAST majority of us sleep better knowing you and your team are watching out for us. :-)

I read all of them Jonathan. Thanks for the comment!

By the way... My boss tried to call him back. He left him a message and nobody called us back.

It's a little late in the game, but apparently, it's a problem that affects even folks like Jim Jaggers as well.
