I hate it when I go for an isolated chance of a storm and that storm pops up right over the most populated area of the viewing area! The forecast was still right and that storm will be gone in less than an hour, but it still bugs me for some reason! I'm not sure why...
Oh well...

Son, I think that it is because the "isolated storm" is isolated in the very area where there's so very many people affected by it that it does not seem "isolated".
Uually we hear that word in the context that it refers to a rural area such as in an "isolated location".
Certain words convey a visual definition rather than their true meaning.
Just my 2 cents worth from an old court reporter who has worked with many attorneys...maybe "solitary" would be a better descriptive term?
