What's This Thing?

We have a couple of employees cleaning out and organizing a section of KAIT. Two days ago, they brought this thing into my office? It says it is the Region 8 Weather Machine and it has a series of buttons... rain, dry, cold, and hot.

I have NO IDEA what it is or what it does. I'm assuming that it was some type of joke from a long time ago. I may have to ask Terry Wood about this one!!!!

Anywho, I'm going to show it tonight on the 6:00 news. Maybe Terry Wood, Mark Frankum, or even Tret Stafford can tell me what this thing is (or was).

Take care,
Ryan

Well well well ... you went to ALL that trouble trying to convince us that you "don't control the weather," and now you go and reveal this contraption... Remember this post, Ryan?!!!

Ryan, I'm going to hazard a guess that it was what was used at one time to create the weather map that is shown on air, long before the screen that you now stand in front of. The chrome and hue button make me think that they were used to control color on the map and that the buttons above (rain, dry, cold, hot)were probably used to insert the graphics for those conditions.
Or, it could have been some kind of joke thing as you said. I'm staying tuned to find out the answer...lol

I came across that thing when I was there...I think viewers sometimes think we all have one of those that we can just break out any time we want to. Hey, maybe we could come up with something, market it, make loads of money, then retire to the beach. Let me know if you get any brilliant ideas!
