Spica Update

One of the main reasons I chose to post on my blog about the Spica Cast, was to help other parents. When we came home from the hospital, I searched online for all the information I could find about "kids in Spica Casts." By posting our own experiences at our home, maybe some parents in the future can get ideas to make life easier and/or find comfort in knowing that they will make it through the experience just fine! In fact, IF you did a "search" on this subject for your own kid and you found this page... feel free to email me at rvaughan@kait8.com.

Over the past 24 hours or so, we have graduated to something new. He has started to walk! He has been pulling himself up on the coffee table, couch, and cabinets for a couple of weeks now. The free-standing walk is new and has kind of surprised me. Dr. Schechter told us that he might try to walk one day and that day has come! We're still going to be using the wagon because it easier, but at least he can be a little more mobile at home.

We should get this monster cast off next week and the X-rays will determine the next cast. It will hopefully be a leg cast. I really hope so, but if not, we will be fine.

Anywho, thanks for the prayers over the past several weeks. They worked! This experience has not been as bad as what we thought... We were really scared in emergency room several weeks ago! God has really blessed the healing process!

Take care,
Ryan
