Strong and Faithful Father

Many of you read the post a few days ago about the loss of the Burgess Family in Alabama. Rick Burgess, a DJ for a nationally syndicated morning comedy program, spoke at his own son's funeral. For those that did not catch my earlier post, 2-year-old Bronner Burgess, drowned this weekend in their family pool.

Rick Burgess did something that I seriously doubt I could do myself. He spoke at his own son's funeral. Last night, I sat in my office and listened to the tribute by Casting Crowns and looked at the montage of pictures of Bronner on Rick and Bubba's website. It almost brought tears to my eyes. When I got up from my desk, I went straight to my boys and gave them a big kiss while they slept.

We do not need to take the time we have on Earth for granted. There are many things we need to take care of... To hear Rick Burgess speak at the funeral, check out the three clips below:

A Father's Heart Part 1
A Father's Heart Part 2
A Father's Heart Part 3

Have a great day,
Ryan

Good Evening Ryan,
This just chokes me up and brings tears to my eyes. Rick has to be a Man of GOD. I'm like you, I don't think I could do that either. I am so glad that you went and hugged your Son's while they were sleeping. I had some friends once that lived in Trumann. Their Dad has passed away and 2 of his Son's both preached at their Dad's Funeral. I just don't know how they could have done that. It takes a strong willed person to do that I guess. I am still praying for the Family and I know GOD will see them thru this difficult time. Take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours.

Rick's tribute to Bronner was such a testament to the power of Christ. I don't know how anyone can be the same after hearing the word of God spoken by a grieving father.
