I'm still holding out on some hope that Jonesboro can stay above 32°. It's going to be close! Other areas in Region 8 to the north and northwest stand a better chance of seeing problems.This is not a snow event, but rather an ice event. This is not something that you want, even if you are a kid or teacher! Some places in Region 8 will have tree limbs down and power lines down if this materializes.
In Jonesboro, I think we will see rain for half of the event and freezing rain/drizzle for the other half. It would not hurt my feelings if everyone stayed with rain, but that seems rather unlikely.
As each new piece of data comes in, I'll try to post an update. The above image shows "precip type" as determined by the GFS model. It's a little blocky (low res), but it shows how close this event will be..... AGAIN! FZRA (yellow) is freezing rain and IP (red) is "ice pellets" or sleet. RA (green) is rain, of course.

Ryan,I recall us having had 2 MAJOR ice storms the past 15 years. One was around 94', and the other was around 01'. I hope this isn't a every 7 year thing. I hate Ice storms. It only takes half of inch or so to cause big time problems. I sure hope things start to look warmer over the next 8-12 hours. :-(

I remember the Ice Storm of 2001 that Jason was talking about. My husband's Grandmother had died and the Funeral was the day after the Ice Storm. It was still bad that day. I had much rather have Snow than Ice. If we do get any, I just hope it doesn't get very bad and we all lose electricity. My husband will be traveling back this way from Colorado tonight, and I hope he doesn't run into any of it and can't make it home. It is 48 degrees here in Caraway right now. I'll tell Rick he's a bad boy for wanting there to be NO SCHOOL if we start hearing the trees creak.
This really would not be a good thing for the tornado recovery efforts, either. We don't need any more power lines or branches to be brought down. :-/
