A Date In Memphis

My wife and I have returned from our Anniversary date in Memphis. I surprised her with a little get-away across the river. We had a GREAT time. It's nice to leave the kids at home (with supervision, of course) and head out for a night. We had a great dinner, a hilarious time at the comedy club, and a comfortable stay at a wonderful hotel.

As you know, I like to give reviews of places we visit. Reviews help others spend their money wisely and help others have enjoyable evenings, too.

Let's start with dinner. I made reservations for us at Felicia Suzanne's. Some friends of ours know Felicia Willet, who is a Region 8 native, and said that it was a very nice restaurant. They were right!

We started the dinner with a crab cake that was brought to us by the chef for choosing their place for dinner. It was GREAT, but then it got even better.... We ordered Tennessee goat cheese and caramelized sweet onion tart with a cornmeal crust and a drizzle of pecan pesto for an appetizer. This appetizing treat was awesome! For our entrees, Jenn ordered Grilled Organic Niman Ranch Double Cut Pork Chop with Andouille Potato Hash, BBB Southern Cooked Greensand Homemade Green Tomato Chow Chow. I took a little nibble of the Pork Chop and the Chow-Chow and it was very tasty. Jenn says that she wished she had ordered it Medium-Well, but was still satisfied. I agree with her... Medium-well is better for pork. I ordered the filet of beef tenderloin, an apple-wood smoked bacon potato cake, Maytag blue cheese butter and a port wine reduction. It also came with some Asparagus. To no surprise, it was extremely good, too. Here's my overall review of Felicia Suzanne's:

Pros
-Amazing Food
-Great Environment
-Perfect for couples

Cons
-It's in Memphis
-Be prepared to drop over $100 for two, easily
-Felicia brushed me of when I tried to speak to her. I guess I interrupted her... lol

After dinner, we went to Comedy, TN and saw two great comedians! Dave Beck opened the show and was good enough to be the headliner. Dave is from Springfield, MO and he had a few jokes about Arkansas, since he drove through on his way to Memphis.

The headliner was Dale Jones. You may have seen Dale Jones on Last Comic Standing this year. He has an extremely high energy level that keeps you laughing for the entire show. He's from Nashville, so we chatted with him after the show about being Nashville natives, too.

Both guys had some annoying hecklers, but they both held their own and made the people look like idiots. My sides hurt when I left. Jenn and I are big fans of stand-up comedy!

Pros
-Both comedians were funny.
-Good atmosphere

Cons
-The hecklers should have been kicked out
-They were out of Chocolate Lava Cake! Argh!

Finally, the hotel review. We stay at the Hyatt at Primacy Park. I will stay at this hotel every time I stay in Memphis from now on. Large plasma TV, great service, clean, and a great location.

Pros
-Everything was great

Cons
-None

We had a great time. Most importantly, I was with the most beautiful woman in the world! That made everything great!

Nice post Ryan...it is good to get away with your spouse WITHOUT the kiddo's! :) Thanks for the reviews...while I'm in no hurry to visit Memphis, they'll come in handy if we do.

Great review and glad you both had a great time. We also had a great time having a special Fri. night dinner with your sister-in-law (hence the babysitter) and all our grandchildren. Glad your anniv. was such a special one!!!

It is so good to see married people enjoy the company of their spouse, and reaffirm their committment to their sacred union.
May you and your wife have many more decades of love, fun and comfort with each other.
