Taking Some Time Off

As some of you know, I've been taking some time off this week. It's been relaxing so far! I've tried to genuinely take advantage of my time with my wife and boys.

Last week, my General Manager, Tim, talked to us about spending time with our family over the holidays. He told us to turn off our cell phones and not check our email on our days off. While I have not been able to accomplish that task completely, I have put my phone on "silence" at times and I have not checked my email as often. It's been refreshing! I seriously doubt Tim took his own advice though! lol

I love Christmas, but there are several things that bother me, too. In Sunday school this week we talked about the commercialization of Christmas. We're too wrapped up in presents... We're too wrapped up in making people happy... and we're too busy to even notice.

Pause at some point this holiday and reflect on what you are celebrating. Celebrate the time the God came to live with us on Earth and celebrate the many blessings that he has given you and your family.

Have a great week in the name of Jesus,
Ryan

Merry Christmas hope you have a good one.
P.S. My 3yr old is missing you. He has decided that you are his buddy. He drops what he is doing when he heres your voice come on the tv. Or if he is almost asleep he will get up when you come on.

We agree that Christmas has become lost in the commercial activites. For this reason, our family does not exchange gifts with each other at Christmas, and we do not put up a tree or lights. We celebrate the season simply at our house with prayer and a special family dinner on Christmas day, after we have made donations of money and personal time with local charities serving the needs of the community.
Our goal is to celebrate the birth of Christ by honoring Him. It has made a huge difference in our sense of inner peace during the holiday season.
