What Does The Old Farmer's Almanac Say?

If I had a dollar for every person that has asked me about the Farmer's Almanac saying that there was another winter storm coming our way, I'd have about $16. Nobody had actually seen this written in the Almanac, they had just heard it from someone else. So, let's squash the rumors. In the above image is an official copy of THE Old Farmer's Almanac for 2014 in my hand. My mom buys me a copy each year. :) Let's open it up and first look at the winter season so far.

We will start with December of 2013:
For December 2013, The Old Farmer's Almanac said:
Temperature: 2° below average
Precipitation: 1: below average
Said "Thunderstorms" on December 6th
Snow and rain mentioned between 25th-31st

Compare to Actual:
Temperature: 1.1° below average
Precipitation: 1.67" ABOVE average
Had 1-3" of snow on the 6th
There was NO snow and rain between 25th-31st

Let's move to January and February of 2014:

For January 2014, The Old Farmer's Almanac said:
Temperature: 6° above average (we wish)
Precipitation: 3" above average

Compared to Actual:
Temperature: 4.5° BELOW average
Precipitation: 1.31" BELOW average

For February 2014, The Old Farmer's Almanac said:
Temperature: 4° below average
Precipitation: 1" below average

Compared To Actual:
Temperature: 7.6° BELOW average
Precipitation: 1.13" below average

The month of March is not finished, but I see nothing about the Sleetapocalypse we endured earlier this month and I see no mention of wintry weather for the rest of the month. Let's look at April:
Once again, I see nothing about another winter storm.

So, in summary, there is no mention of another winter storm in The Old Farmer's Almanac, but it hasn't been too accurate this year anyways. Maybe we should be more concerned that it's NOT mentioned... Haha!

Have a good day!
Ryan
