More Life-Saving WizBang Gadgets!

We used our new Sentinel SP yesterday during the severe weather coverage. This piece of equipment is something you will start seeing more and more as we get more comfortable with this new technology. The "SP" part of the name stands for "Storm Prediction". It flags certain storms when they show signs of severe weather. For example, Sentinel SP was indicating large hail west of White Hall yesterday. Ground reports confirmed this prediction.

It also indicates signs of rotation within a storm. This was an image of weakening rotation moving into Elmore County and Coosa County. Ground reports confirmed at least a funnel cloud. The National Weather Service will be out surveying the area later today. Damage has already been reported in Autauga and Dallas Counties.
