Update

I took a few days off to go to Nashville this weekend. As some of you know, my step-mom is battling Stage 4 cancer. I talked a little bit about it a couple of months ago, but decided to stay quiet about it on the blog since then.

After chemotherapy on her body and radiation to her brain, it appears that the treatments may have come to an end. We have found out that neither treatment was successful and that we have almost run out of options.

There isn't a day that goes by that several people aren't praying for her. Praying for healing... praying for comfort... praying for whatever will make the situation better in the eyes of the world.

Of course, we all wanted her to fight this horrible beast again, but God had other plans. We often do not understand God's plan, but we have to recognize that he is in control. I will admit, it's extremely hard to accept that truth in times like this, but I still believe he is in control. We sometimes do not understand his plan, but one day it will make perfect sense to us all.

Emotionally it has been a tough week, especially for my Dad. My step-mom is stronger than all of us put together. That's something I have admired since I was a kid. She' one tough lady!

Please continue to pray for my parents and family.

My sorrows and prayers go out to you and your family. I know it can be a very painful thing to go threw. God has a reason for everything, just some things we will never understand. Be strong for her, she needs you.

Sincerely,

Jason Hampton

I can remember the day we had to cross that bridge and it is SO DIFFICULT; however, God is good and will provide each of you with what you need to make it through the next days, weeks, months and years. God bless you.

Ryan,
I know she's enjoyed seeing everyone, but especially
the little ones always do
brighten up any situation
no matter how grim...it is
a special blessing that only
children and animals (she has
always been a dog/cat fan) seem able to do when visiting direly
ill folks. That is something very
special for her which you've done
by driving for hours to take the boys to visit a bit with her.
Love, Mom/Memaw

You continue to allow your readers a chance to see what good families are all about, Ryan, and we can only imagine how being a part of that same family has helped your step-mom during this time. - We'll be keeping you all in our prayers.

When you were gone for several days I feared that something like this was going on with your stepmom. I'm so sorry, Ryan. I've been through this with my Mom and Dad, a BIL and many more friends and family. It never gets easier and I don't have any answers for you. But as you said, GOD is in control even when we can't see the big picture and we wonder "why".

Sending prayers for your stepmom and your whole family.

Pass this on to Jen for me, if you don't mind.

Love and hugs,

Diane

Ryan,
I am so sorry to hear about your step mother! Cancer is a horrible disease. I don't understand why we have cancer in the world. We aren't supposed to question God though, we just have to have faith in Him and He has His reasons for everything, whether we understand them or not. My prayers are that she has a miracle and is able to beat this disease. If that's not what God's plans are for her, then my prayers are that she will not suffer. It is very painful to lose a loved one. I have lost my grandmother, my aunt, my 2nd cousin, my uncle, and my great uncle to cancer. Another great uncle has it now, and his prognosis is not good. So I know what you are feeling. If it is God's plans for your step mom to go home to Him, just know that she will no longer be in pain and suffering from such an awful disease! You won't be able to really accept that at first, at least I wasn't anyway. But in time, you will fully be able to accept that. I will keep you and your family in my prayers! I do hope that she has a miracle and beats this though!
