Not Much Change...

My thinking has not changed much since last night. I still think that Jonesboro will see mostly rain, but areas north and northest stand a chance of seeing some accumulation. In fact, I looked at the Flippn, AR 06Z GFS BUFKIT forecast sounding this morning and some areas in that direction could be seeing some pretty good accumulation.... I'll talk numbers tonight at 10:00! ;)

In the meantime, I want to explain something to everyone. Listen up! :) Every viewer that can watch KAIT is important. We have to prepare every viewer for whatever comes our way... SOOOO, even though we may not see much snow in Jonesboro, we will still provide Winter Storm Coverage for the areas that WILL get snow. Just because it may not fall in Jonesboro, doesn't mean it is not a problem for others. I'm sure you understand!

Thanks!
Ryan

Yeah Ryan you tell'em! Just beacause Jonesboro isn't gonna get anything, doesn't mean you don't care about the 6 inches of snow Me and Heidi is gonna get!!!

Am I a trouble maker ? :-D

Thanks Ryan, for your thoughts about weather coverage for all of Region 8. Im not a resident of Jonesboro or even Craighead County, and often, while watching the news, I feel like the tv station forgets about the rest of NE AR. Most of the news we see comes from Jonesboro, then theres Crimestoppers that focuses on J-Boro crime. The Region-8 Showcase mostly features J-Boro stores, etc. While I do understand that Jonesboro is a huge part of the viewing area, and most of the news comes from there.... I would just like to see more news from other towns (though, I have to say, theres alot more today then there used to be). Kudos to Bob Snell who gets around with his "Off-Beat" stories, and Kudos to you (and Sarah) for giving weather info about all of Region 8 during your weather cast. There... I feel better now :)

Well ... I will just say this. Ol' Mother Nature has taunted me before, and right now I am seeing her on the road toward expressing that familiar, tongue-sticking-out insensitivity she seems to dish out two or three times per year, at least. The cruelty of it all! ... In looking at the surface temps forecast on both GFS and WRF ... If we end up getting half an inch of rain with the temperature cemented on 33 degrees ... I might just have a screaming fit up here. There could be nodules on my vocal cords by the time it is over.

(The blue line on the critical thickness composite looks a little more encouraging, doesn't it???)

Have no fear Heidi...the low hasn't even come and showed it's face yet. It all depends where he wants to go.

We will get snow...it may start as a little rain, but the rain will cool it down enough to change to nothing but snow in the hills...plus it isn't gonna start until late Friday evening just when the temps start to fall. You will get 6 inches of snow Friday night. :-) Good luck !

This is the forecast I want !!!

MEANWHILE THE LATEST WRF SUGGESTS A MUCH SLOWER APPROACH
WITH THE WAVE...AND BRINGS BIG TIME SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS
SOUTHERN MISSOURI AND NORTHERN ARKANSAS DURING THE DAY ON
SATURDAY...LIKELY CONTINUING INTO SATURDAY NIGHT. AS A MATTER OF
FACT...THE WRF QPF WOULD INDICATE THAT A FOOT OR BETTER OF
ACCUMULATION WOULD BE LIKELY FOR AREAS NEAR THE MISSOURI AND
ARKANSAS BORDER. ALL MODELS AGREE ON THERMAL FIELDS CONDUCIVE FOR
SNOW.
