Bustola

Having a forecast bust never feels good. I couldn't sleep and was mad at situation and myself. Only 2-3 degrees made all of the difference in the world!

I've always said that a forecaster will have moments when they forecast, and God laughs. I'm sure God was laughing at me last night when I said that it would be icy in Jonesboro this morning! LOL Oh well.... I'll hop back on the horse tonight and go at it again. Despite the busted forecast, I'm sure many adults are glad that the ice did not form in most areas...

Some places did have some ice. Even on my way home last, I almost had the Wood Ford StormTRACKER in the ditch on Goobertown road. I'm pretty sure that was due to the sleet that fell through the evening. With temperatures 2-3 degrees above freezing, it probably melted too.

Before I go, I did find some accumulation in my neighborhood this morning! WoOHoo!

Enjoy,
Ryan

You have a pretty harsh definition of "bust forecast," Ryan! :D Geez, I mean, you said over and over that 2 or 3 degrees was going to mean everything, and it did! It was completely reasonable to say that Jonesboro was going to have ice - it was sleeting when you said it, wasn't it?! You said that there would probably be a few school closings, and there were... *rolls eyse, shakes head*

:D

You better never decide to go forecast for the National Hurricane Center. ;)

That was hardly a busted forecast.
With that being said, I COULD NOT believe the temps didn't fall anymore when the precip started to fall threw the very dry air that was in place. I was shocked.

At 5 yesterday the temp at my house in Pocahontas was 38 and the dew point was 9. At 11 last night the temp had only went down 1 degree to 37. I just couldn't understand why the temps wasn't falling.

Talk about a forecast bust...National Weather Service out of Paducah said S.E. Missouri could get upwards of 1-3 inches of snow/sleet...now that's a bust.

Good Afternoon Ryan,
Don't blame yourself for us dodging the bullet. You did say at 5,6, and 10 that a couple of degrees could make or brake the forecast. Even tho I was disappointed, I am hoping we will get some kind of precipitation before Winter is and not in the form of rain either. LOL. All it did here in Caraway that I know of was just rain. It could have done a little something in the wee hours of the morning, but when I got up around 3:30a.m. all it was doing then was just raining. At least you did get some precip at your house. You go Ryan. LOL. Was it enough to make a little snowball? Take care and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours. I read about your friend's Son drowning and that is so sad. The Family does seem to be taking it well tho. I will keep them all in my prayers.

Darn old Mother Nature, she should have cooperated more with your forecast...evidently she didn't check with you before doing her thing...lol
Don't beat yourself up, it's weather after all and if you got it right every time, quite frankly it would be kind of scary.
