Looking Back At Sunday

I've been researching the winds from Sunday morning and I'm still amazed at the impacts Ike had this far inland. I'm trying to gather a lot of data in case I want to do a presentation on the event in the future.
The above image shows the winds at 5:00 AM across the region. As you can see, the core of the winds were moving into the heart of Region 8.
Two hours later, we were still getting pounded with strong winds as the center of low pressure moved to our North.
The above image is pretty cool. It shows the wind gusts overlayed on top of the sea level pressure. You can see the direct correlation.
And finally, the above image is the meteogram for Jonesboro on Sunday. Click on the image to enlarge. Notice the large pressure drop and the strong winds at the same time. Our pressure dropped below 996mb quickly! For the record, the winds are in "knots" and not mph in this meteogram.

End result... It was REALLY windy!

Have a good day,
Ryan

I look at it this way, the Jonesboro High School mascot finally has a chance to make sense.

Just one more question before this blog is gone....why would they take the Tropical Storm Warnings down after it hit Arkansas when the winds was over Tropical Storm Criteria well passed Arkansas ? I think the winds was even higher than what everyone was thinking they would be!

It should have still been a TS...

Thats what I was thinking, but I thought maybe there was some kind of deal if it was a tropical system over land for so long it became non-tropical in nature or something. I guess they just decided it wasn't a storm no more, I dont know? Thanks.
