"United" States Of America

As a member of the media, I’m not suppose to say who I voted for in the election. Those of you who know my convictions can probably figure it out, but I’ll do my best to honor the journalistic tradition.

With that said, I want to encourage everyone to rally around Obama and Biden. I know that sounds confusing, but it’s time for our country to come together. A fellow meteorologist and I were chatting tonight and we both expressed the need for us to unite like we did 7 years ago… minus the tragedy of 9/11. Regardless of who I voted for, I’m still interested to see what Obama does as President of the United States.

Is there anyone else that feels the same as I do? I'll write more about it later tonight or tomorrow.

Ryan

Totally agree with you, and even though I am not a journalist, I too will not say who I voted for. But Obama is now our president-elect. I will honor that and hope he does bring about the change he so eloquently espouses.

Agreed. When I heard who our new president would be I immediately went to the Word for some much needed truth about leadership! No matter which candidate we once backed, it is our duty to back Obama as our new president to be. Hebrews 13:17 speaking on a leader.

"Obey your leaders and submit to them, for THEY ARE KEEPING WATCH OVER YOUR SOULS, as those WHO WILL HAVE TO GIVE AN ACCOUNT. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, FOR THAT WOULD BE OF NO ADVANTAGE TO YOU."

I voted for the other guy based on my Christian convictions, but as you say, what's done is done and now it's time to rally around the flag, so to speak.

No matter what man is in office, in God I trust.

I voted McCain, but do not have the hard feelings towards Obama as some do in our area. His winning really wasn't a surprise to me. We will do our utmost to support him in prayers, as he is now our new president and deserves respect. I don't think Obama is a bad man as some of my friends do. I actually like listening to him speak. He's very eloquent. I just remind myself when things happen that we may not necessarily like that God is in control and NOTHING surprises Him.

God bless the USA and our troops!

No hard feelings. I was happy to see such a large turnout for voters and that it was decisive (even if my guy didn't win). Like I told my husband, I sure wish he would've been Republican though so we would've been the ones making history!

I Timothy 2:1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. 5 For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. 6 He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time. …8 In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.

I Peter 2:13 For the Lord’s sake, respect all human authority—whether the king as head of state, 14 or the officials he has appointed. For the king has sent them to punish those who do wrong and to honor those who do right. 15 It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you. 16 For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil. 17 Respect everyone, and love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God, and respect the king.

Romans 13:1 Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. 2 So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. 3 For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you. 4 The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong. 5 So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience. 6 Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority.

No elected leader can achieve improvement without the help of the people.
I pray that President-elect Obama will be guided with inspiration and wisdom from our Heavenly Father. And, I pray that we, all the people, will similarly be guided from our Heavenly Father to understand and carry out our individual contributions to the project of uplifting our country. May we all become less selfish, and more able to work for a common uplifting of all.

I proudly voted for McCain, but will humbly support President-Elect Obama even though it makes me want to throw up right now just thinking about it. I guess I am still a little bit in the denial stage of the grief process :)

I just keep telling myself that God is still in control, and he wasn't surprised by this.

Do you think Republicans are the only Christians?

Not at all Anonymous. I have Christians in my family that are Democrats.
