ASTATE Game Forecast, Hurricane Michael, Hurricane Sergio, and a Cold Front!

I love this time of the year. We finally go from the quiet summer pattern to a more active pattern. This week, we have A LOT of weather to talk about! First, a lot of eyes are on the forecast for the ASTATE game tonight. Here are a few thoughts about the game forecast:

  • 30% chance of rain in Region 8, but I'm feeling more confident that the game stays dry.
  • Anything that develops near Jonesboro should not last long.
  • Most of the rain stays in the western parts of Region 8.
  • I'm looking forward to being there!
Here's what radar could look like at kickoff and near the end of the game:
We also have Hurricane Michael that will make landfall at the Florida Panhandle on Wednesday, possibly as a major hurricane. Michael will stay SE of Region 8. Meanwhile, Hurricane Sergio in the Pacific ocean will weaken as it moves towards us this weekend. Even though it will just be a remnant when it arrives here, it will still enhance our rain chances a little by Saturday night. Here's a look at both storms using www.kait8.com :

But possibly the biggest story of the week is the cool-down! We are going to go from highs in the 90s to lows in the 40s! Here's a graph of several model runs showing the cooler weather arriving. I highlighted the time periods when we could be in the 40s. Fall is coming this week!
That's a lot of stuff this week! We will keep an eye on it.

On a personal note, I'd like to thank you all for praying for our family. As I mentioned last week on Facebook and Twitter, my mom and stepdad are going though some health issues. It's tough, but God is with us and knows what's on the other side of this struggle. We are just taking it one step at a time. Thanks.

Have a great day!
Ryan
