New Weather Graphics!!!

We launched our new graphics tonight and everything went... well, smooth on air. There were a couple of hiccups behind the scenes, but nothing too bad. The above clip is an example from tonight's 10:00 news

For the past several weeks, we have been tackling this upgrade to our weather computers. Lots of extra hours, a trip to Birmingham, and lots of time away from family. Now... it's back to my normal routine and I get to have fun with the new graphics!

Until today, I used the same graphics package for 9 years. I had those old graphics from my first time at KAIT... then I had them at WSFA... and then I returned to KAIT and have had them for almost 5 years more. For most of my career, I have use the blue backgrounds that we retired on our Midday show.

Needless to say, it feels a little weird when I'm giving the forecast on the new graphics! It's like having new shoes. You LOVE the new shoes, they look good, but they feel a little funny at first. And honestly, people step on them a little too... (inside joke)

Anywho, I hope the viewers enjoy them. During this interim, the graphics on the right side of my blog will not be updating. The new graphics should be there by Monday.

Lastly... we've added some new cities to the map too! Data for Hardy, Corning, and Newport were added!

Take care,
Ryan

PS-- Big thanks to both Matts, Ray, and Keith!

Looks like a big city WX forecast.
(Like those on trips to NYC and Vegas, etc) but WOW -- Jonesboro has arrived!

like the new graphics but the letters are to small, can you enlarge the type. Have alot of older folks watch you and they have a hard time seeing the small fonts, expecially the time & temp in lower corner.

I was just wondering why Carter County Missouri was taken off the KAIT Weather bug or storm warming logo? That was the only county missing on the new graphic!

Carter County has always been on the fringe of KAIT viewing area. Do you live in Carter County?
