There is no denying that winter has come to Region 8. It is COLD on this Christmas night. We have even had some flurries that have covered up some car hoods! @hunterhope24 sent me this pic on Twitter from Piggott:
While flurries is nice to see for winter lovers, many people are wanting a real snow. Over the next few weeks, it's going to be COLD. Not just below freezing, but possibly in the single digits for many areas. This maps shows the COLD air plunging in for New Year's Day:
So, with all of this cold air in place... will we see any moisture? Some model runs say yes... some say no. If ANY disturbance moves through, it runs the chance to give us wintry weather because we are going to be so cold. The latest run of the GFS model (American) says it will be snowy on New Year's Eve:
Don't get excited yet though... the run before it, just showed flurries. The models are not agreement, but it is a pattern that supports "something" happening. If we make it through the next 2 weeks without some wintry weather that makes the roads slick... I'd be shocked. Stay tuned!
