Look At That Big 'Ole Moon!

Have you ever been heading home just after sunset and you see through the trees the biggest moon you believe you have ever seen? You may have seen it last night! The moon is not any bigger or closer. It is an optical illusion! It only "looks" larger. If you take a picture of it, it will look normal. It is an illusion that we only see at certain times. For more information on this optical illusion click here.

It's the first day of summer and it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest day in the Southern Hemisphere. From now until December, the days will get shorter and shorter.

There are a couple of things we'll be talking about over the next few weeks in Outer Space. The space probe will intercept a comet a July 4th (see last week's blog) and NASA plans to send another shuttle into orbit for the first time since the disaster a few years back. Stay tuned for more info on both of those events!

I'm going to a summer camp this afternoon for my County Road 12 segment. If all goes well, you'll get a little taste of summer camp life Friday at 6:00!

As always, feel free to email me at rvaughan@wsfa.com

PS- I'm having a better day today! (it's only 5:30 am though!)
