Sports Anchor, Brett Garrett...

When I started the blog back in 2004, I said that I would give yah the "behind the scenes" scoop. Here's the scoop... Brett Garrett landed a sports anchor job in Tupelo, MS. I'm real happy for Brett. He's wanted a sports gig and he got it. He gets to cover two SEC schools! Not too shabby!

I knew Brett was hard worker, but it truly shined the night that Marmaduke was slammed with the tornado. He walked the streets in the dark with all of his gear. You could not drive through the city, so he walked. He provided reports through the night and came back with amazing stories of miracles from the survivors. He briefly went home that night... rested for an hour or so... and went right back up to Marmaduke to join me on Good Morning Region 8.

I know Brett reads the blog, so feel free to say goodbye to him in the comments section. His email has already been turned off by now.

Don't be surprised to see him around town every now and then. His girlfriend (from K8) still lives here. I won't give you the scoop on who! Guess...

Take care,
Ryan

PS-Marsha Mays also resigned, but she is still in town. All the best, to both of them.

Ryan, I totally agree about Brett's reporting from Marmaduke. At my house, that has stuck in our minds; we were very impressed with his composure, as well as his determination toward getting the word out in regard to the urgent situation there. He seemed as though he had done that kind of scene 100 times. So if Tupelo ever has a tornado event like that one, they'll realize they got more than they bargained for in their new Sports dude! :)

Best of luck in your new job, Brett! Good luck, too, to Marsha!

Whatever to that reporter who was on briefly? I believe her name was Angie Dickson. We really liked her.

We missed Brett's tornado coverage since we were without power for a couple of days. Luckily, our side of town had very little damage compared to the other side of town. But we still missed all the news coverage.
