OK, Let's Talk About Saturday...

Since someone brought it up in the comments section and the NWS is already talking about the chance for snow on Saturday, maybe we should too.

I'm still a little apprehensive to talk about potential winter storms after the "insanely" difficult forecast from this past weekend. But, let's look at the data anyways.

Below is the GFS surface chart for Saturday morning. The cold air is in place and the moisture is in place. If this happens (verifies) , we could be dealing with a wintry mess on Saturday.
I'd still be cautious and conservative on-air at this point, but I'm off work today! I'm sure Sarah will mention it tonight, but I'm sure she will be conservative, too. Her and I have the same viewpoint about dealing with storms that are more than 48 hours out. You'll continue to get my "behind the scenes" view about the storm on the blog! I say stuff here that I won't say on air...

Usually I do not mention accumulations until 24-36 hours out. On the blog, I may mention my thoughts a little earlier.... :)

I'm waiting on the 12Z GFS BUFKIT profile to be generated before I mention any potential accumulations. It's only Tuesday! A LOT CAN CHANGE!!!!

Take care,
Ryan

Wow! Jason got gutsy! LOL

I'm going to wait until tonight to mention any accumulation on the blog. I will say that I'm thinking mostly snow at this point. You may want to rethink the "sleet", Jason!

HA-HA, Jason! I want to weigh in with my hill country version of the forecast, too:

Friday: Traffic Jam in front of Ash Flat Wal-Mart; undeterred, angry mobs demanding bread and milk storm local dairy farm and bakery (there being one of each in the tri-county area), demanding action. Chance of the National Guard being activated: 100%

Saturday: Snowflakes spotted falling from the sky in the general direction of earth; Area schools promptly announce closures for the entire week to follow.

Sunday: KAIT uses Heidi Farrar's sled-riding/snow-ball battle/igloo building/snowman-making video footage for its entire evening news broadcast.

Monday: Ecstatic KAIT news anchors report record-breaking ratings for the Sunday broadcast. Heidi Farrar awarded with a Barton's Weather Umbrella.

:D

(It's finally reached 50 degrees here!)

Good Afternoon Ryan,
"LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW". I do believe there is a song called "Let it Snow". Hmmmm, could it be? It has finally reached 61 degrees here in Caraway, AR according to my computer. Of course, it is the temperature gauge from KAIT-8. But, I will believe it when I see it. We had fog here from Thursday night and all weekend. We had our Christmas Parade here Saturday Night and it was very foggy. Rudolph was even here. LOL. Do keep us posted as to what the weather is going to do. My oldest daughter has a Basketball Game in Armorel on Saturday. I would like to know when it's going to start all of this, if it does. Let us remember all the folks in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri that have been affected by all the ICE. Literally thousands of people are without power and it could be up to 10 days before they get electricity back. Have a good day.

Ryan-if you say it first, you could be like Superman! Even more famous than you are now! Haha! Wal-Mart may send a hitman to talk to ya due to the lack of attention that they would get, but you would be the man! I say air it and take the chance! Its eventually gonna happen! You could be the first to predict it! If you're right, I'll personally write your producer and ABC and tell them what a brilliant young gent you are and that you deserve a raise and some fame from it! SO, there you go! Don't let Sarah beat you to it! She just might be the one to get all the fame! LOL! Be good man!
