Almost 100,000 Hits!

Whoa!!! I've almost hit 100,000 hits! It might happen today or tomorrow! I'm not sure what to do. Should I thank people like they do in Hollywood? Should I just sit back and do nothing? I'm not sure. This happens to other websites all of the time, but not on my little ole website. Hmmm.... what should I do?

Nothing flashy... Nothing fancy. I think I'll just give a little history about the blog.

I got the "blog" idea from Neil Orne. Neil was a morning anchor in Nashville at WKRN. He was transitioning from weatherman to news anchor while I interned there. I always thought he seemed like a cool guy... kind of funny... kind of witty... and he seemed like he might know a thing or two about the biz.

Anywho, I look at www.wkrn.com almost every day to catch the latest news in my hometown of Nashville. One day back in 2004, I noticed this thing called a "blog". I did not know what it was, but I read it. It was Neil's "blog". I immediately wanted to have a blog too! I had never heard of a blog. In fact, I often wonder if Neil was one of the first "newsies" to have a blog????

I'm not sure if Neil remembers this, but I emailed him and asked him about it. He gave me some info and I kicked it off! From then on... It's history. Speaking of history, here are some of my most memorable blogs:

The First Blog
Second Son Born (first son was Pre-Blog!)
I Got The Key To Prattville!
Raising over $1,000,000 for victims of Katrina!!!
Jeff Gerber's Last Day
Brother In-Law Leaves For Iraq
I Leave Alabama To Return To Arkansas (This one made me miss my friends)
The Tornadoes of April 2006
The Day After In Marmaduke

These old blogs really brought back some memories. Some good, some bad....some very bad. Time really flys by... What are your thoughts on some of the bLoG flashbacks? Feel free to comment below.

Tak care!
Ryan

Ok, I have to admit I am powerless over the blog. I check it every morning. I clock in, get a cup of coffee, log in, and "hit" the blog, even before I check myspace, lol. I love it. I even "hit" it on the weekends. Always hoping for an edition of The Vaughan Family Circus, but if that not there I enjoy what you have to say too. Keep it up, it makes me smile, it makes me laugh, sometimes it makes me cry. It's great. I may be your biggest fan, well maybe 5th or 6th in line, but I'll claim you anytime.

I remember when you told us to get on the computer and look at your blog, and I was like, "What's a blawg?".

At that time, we only used the computer once or twice a week, but we were soon looking forward to seeing what you'd post next. For the longest time, it never even entered my mind to read any other blogs. I mean, you were the only one out there posting pictures of our adorable nephews, so why bother?

Since then, you've helped me get all computer savvy and stuff. We've even got our own silly little blog now! Whodathunkit?

The most memorable thing I ever saw here was that fake game with the screaming monster girl at the end. I nearly punched the screen. I hope you deleted that one before you gave someone a heart attack!

Congrats on your milestone, and thanks for introducing me to the blogosphere!

Love, yO SIstA

I just checked, and I am visitor #99,936. I might just be the one to make 100,000 because I check your blog at least once a day and usually several times a day. I also "met" Jenn when you posted a link to her blog and we read each other's blogs pretty much daily if not more often.

Weather may be the main focus of your blog, but just like most of us who blog, your personality and your life comes across in your blog. Each post is a snapshot of your life at that exact moment. Online memories captured for however long the technology lasts. I really enjoy your blog and I would read it even if you weren't a TV personality.

Long may you blog, Sir Ryan. Blog on, Dude!! LOL ;-)

I am #99,994! You're almost there! I actually have visited several times but this is my first time commenting. Neil's blog is actually one of the very first that I started reading over a year ago. Now there are several on the wkrn site that I frequent. I was linked to your first when you had the turtle on the "sprinkling" hose photo posted.

You have a great blog to visit!
Happy 100,000 hits!
